Modern dental techniques and anesthesia make extractions much more comfortable than in the past. You may feel pressure during the procedure, but not pain. Post-procedure discomfort is typically manageable with prescribed or over-the-counter pain relievers.
Recovery time varies but, generally, patients can resume normal activities within a few days. Complete healing of the gum can take a few weeks.
It's recommended to eat soft foods and avoid hot liquids and alcohol for the first 24 hours. Gradually reintroduce other foods as the extraction site heals.
